製造時のオリジナルカラーと代替コード
再販前のVESPAにはイタリアのMaxMeyer社の塗料が使われていますが現在MaxMeyer社はM&Aによって米PPG社の傘下にあります。
また、初期モデルは戦時下という時代背景から資料にある塗料コードが本当に使われていたかも不明です。
一説では軍用の塗料を流用してた車両もあるとのことです。
既にMaxMeyer社には当時のエンジニアは在籍しておらず、資料も残されていないそうです。
イタリアのVESPAミュージアムでも塗料に関して触れた資料はありません。
以下の代替コードは買収時に渡された少ない資料を基に米PPG社においてキャリブレーションされた公式の物です。
PPGジャパンにおいても共通ですのでこれらのコードを伝えると調合してもらえます。
「Code」もしくは「SKU」と記された番号はPPG社の基調色に当たります。
Mixing Scheme以下の「BC」または「DG」は塗料の種類です。
すべて塗料1Lを作るための調色表です。
Layerが1/1、1/2と2枚に分かれている物は2コートです。 オーバーコートにクリアなどが使われています。
尚、今回代替コードを探すにあたって米PPG社はもちろんMaxMeyer社にも多様の問い合わせを致しました。
その際、1960年初期くらいまではスチールモノコックの塗装前ボディに対して防腐・防錆の意味でニスが塗られていたそうです。
そのニスはハケ塗りため塗り厚や乾燥具合、塗装前の処理状況によって同じ色の塗料であっても色に変化が出たそうです。
繁忙期には工房も手狭になりブースの外で塗られた車両もあるとのことでした。
したがって下記の現存する車両の画像においても同じコードに対して色合いが違う物が存在します。
